About the Artist

Originally from Staffordshire I have been an art tutor and demonstrator for many years living and working in Gloucestershire. My inspiration comes from around the Severn estuary, woodlands and coast (Cotswolds, West Country and Wales). For several years I was resident artist at the National Arboretum, Tetbury hence my love of woodlands.
I work in oils, acrylics and pastels. I try to encompass the affects of nature in my interpretations of light refraction and reflection in my landscapes and seascapes. I look at the shapes where the light trickles through and bounces off different areas of the subject. My love of colour, movement, rhythm and atmosphere gives the onlooker an insight into what you can and cannot see, but at the same time, not losing the reality of the scene.
